MRS. CARR TITLE I READING PLANS 2019-2020

 

SECOND GRADE: Standards 1.1.2, 1.2.2, and 1.3.2

  • Accelerated Reader: Students will select AR books that are in their ZPD according to the STAR test. A reading log will accompany their book and be signed daily by teacher and parent for progress monitoring. All AR quizzing will take place in the Reading Center. The AR established guidelines will be followed.
  • Read Naturally: Students will participate in this computerized program daily to improve fluency.
  • Sight Words: Dolch Words, Dale Word lists, Sitton Spelling high-frequency words, and a sight words center will be used.
  • Making Words: 100 Hands-on Lessons for Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, and Spelling by Patricia Cunningham and Dorothy Hall
  • Words Their Way by Bear, Invernizzi, Templeton, and Johnston
  • Month-by-Month Phonics by Dorothy Hall and Patricia Cunningham
  • Word Ladders by Timothy V. Rasinski
  • Comprehension Strategies
  • Common Core Standards practice
  • Close Reading practice
  • Other materials as needed 

THIRD GRADE: Standards 1.1.3, 1.2.3, and 1.3.3
