Spring 2020 Websites and Resources for Home

Hello 2nd grade families!  During our time away from school, please refer to the information and resources below.  (Links will work best when using Internet Explorer or Chrome). Most importantly, stay safe and healthy!

***See the 5 new choice-activities posted at the bottom***

Beginning the week of April 13th, Wellsboro School District will begin remote-learning.  Math and Reading packets will be mailed to all 2nd grade students.  The packets are broken-down into day-by-day directions for the remainder of the year. Students are encouraged to also continue any activities of their choice from websites, links, and weekly posted activities (found below).  Here is a link to the weekly math and reading directions specifically for the packets. These directions are also attached in printed form to the packets.

Please remember, I am here to help!  If you have any questions about the reading and math packets, website lessons, writing, weekly activities, AR books, or absolutely anything at all,  please do not hesitate to get in touch.  I know that managing day-to-day life is a challenge right now, so please reach out to me whenever it is convenient for you.   My "office hours" are 24/7.  Send me an email, call or text me, or message me on remind. If I don't answer immediately, I will get back to you asap!

WELLSBORO SCHOOL DISTRICT DIGITAL LIBRARY

This is a link to the Wellsboro School District Digital Library.  Use your child's lunch number as their "library card number" when logging in, then search by title, collection, popular recommendations, etc.  You can "borrow" books for 14 days and read them online.  Afterward, be sure to login to AR for a quiz.  There is also a link at the very top of the District Library page for "SORA", a free app that you can download on a phone or tablet that will give you access to books from those devices.  Here is the District Library link:

CURSIVE
Here are 2 links to help your child practice cursive handwriting.  The first link is the writing paper that we use in school.  The second link is a chart that will show you step-by-step directions for all lowercase and capital cursive letters.  Both links are the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum that we use in Don Gill.

3.  One of our favorite activities in school was Scholastic News.  There are a few issues that we did not cover since school closed.  Click on the link below to read all the issues from May and June that we have not done.  You can also re-read your favorites from earlier in the year!  After you use the link, here is a login-code just in case you need it:  PHF8977

 4.  You now have your math books at home, so try to work on a few pages.  If you need help, just have Mom or Dad send me a message!  If you complete pages, send me a picture to share what you have worked on!

5.  On Memorial Day, you probably noticed lots of United States flags on display.  You will notice them again on June 14th (Flag Day), and the Fourth of July.  Here are 3 fun videos that will help you learn more about the United States flag and other national symbols:
