KINDER. AND FIRST GRADE MUSIC!

HELLO KINDERGARTEN AND FIRST GRADE FRIENDS!

I miss you all so much!  I will be posting a "Song of the Week" each Monday for you to listen to; a "Survey" for you to fill out after you watch it and share your thoughts (with help from your family!), and also a fun "Resource of the Week" which will be an activity or a game to play, and maybe fun videos to check out!

Final Activity #11: June 1st- 4th

I hope you all enjoyed listening to different songs of the week and exploring new resources for music! I loved reading your answers.  Baby Cary #2 is due any day now, and I can't wait to show you all pictures (nd find out if it's a boy or a girl)! I hope you have the most wonderful summer with your family and friends.  I will be spending the fall at home with the baby, then coming back to school right before Thanksgiving.  We have found an awesome music substitute to fill in for me until then!  There is no song of the week for you today, but please fill out the survey below.  I love and miss you all!

Traditional Asian Music: China

This video doesn't have any lyrics, but I challenge you to close your eyes as you listen and try to imagine what this song could be about.  This instrument called the "pipa" may remind you of a guitar or a stringed instrument.  The song is called "White Snow in Early Spring".

Musical Theatre/Broadway

Let's take a look at a different style of music this week : musical theatre! A musical is a play performed on a stage that involves singing and dancing.  Have you ever gone to one?  The musical "Into the Woods" has many fairytale characters mixed into one story.  This was made into a movie in 2014 with Anna Kendrick from Trolls!

Song of the Week #4, April 13th

Kindergarten AND 1st grade: One Love
Do you remember when we celebrated Valentine's Day in music class this year?  I taught you the song "One Love" by Bob Marley.  We learned he was from the island of Jamaica, and the song made us feel very relaxed and joyful.  We learned that the lyrics are about loving EVERYONE - no matter what we look like or where we come from! Check out this really cool video of that song.

Chrome Music Lab: Spectogram

A spectrogram is a picture of sound. A spectrogram shows the frequencies that make up the sound, from low to high, and how they change over time, from left to right. With this experiment you can compare spectrograms of different sounds, or use the mic to see what your own sounds look like!

Chrome Music Lab: Sound Waves
Sounds travel through the air like waves through water – but a lot faster. The blue dots represent air molecules bouncing back and forth as sound travels through them. Tap the magnifying glass to zoom in and see a red line graphing the position of one molecule, tracing the shape of the wave!
